Deciphering organic matter distribution by source-specific biomarkers in the shallow Taiwan Strait from a source-to-sink perspective

چکیده
Sedimentary organic matter (OM) in coastal systems is inherently diverse, often with multiple particulate sources and transport histories. The Taiwan Strait (TS) a typical shallow conduit region, linking the East South China Seas. Strong ocean currents, upwellings, distal large rivers, proximal small mountainous rivers all influence distribution of OM TS. We investigated covarying patterns gain size classes sand, silt, clay; terrestrial-sourced biomarkers (n-C 27+29+31 alkanes, n-C 26+28+30 fatty acids (FAs), 28+30+32 alkanols); marine-sourced (phytoplankton-derived alkenones, brassicasterol, dinosterol, zooplankton-derived cholesterol) sea floor sediment; indicator satellite-derived primary production (Chl-a); water-mass (sea surface temperature, SST). used an empirical orthogonal/eigen function (EOF) analysis to distinguish four hypothetical that entered TS through north, south, west, east boundaries. Results show input from south-bound ZMCC (Zhejiang-Fujian Coastal Current) north-bound SCSWC (South Sea Warm had dominant on distributions buried Input via river plumes lateral boundaries upwellings were secondary factors affected sedimentary distribution. Within this source-to-sink system processes, silt clay major carriers signals. Terrestrial (Chl-a) associated two current along edge Marine interior Our finding points out physical plumes, upwelling not only determine but also diversity

Distribution and type of organic matter in Cretaceous to Tertiary source rocks in Soroosh and Nowrooz fields, Persian Gulf
Detailed organic petrography analysis were conducted on drill core and cutting samples from the Nahr Umr (Middle Albian), Burgan (Lower Albian) and Ratawi (Hauterivian) formations on the Soroosh and Nowrooz fields, NW part of the Iranian sector of the Persian Gulf. The thermal maturity of the Middle Albian Nahr Umr Formation appears to have reached the top of the oil window. The underlying Burg...
متن کاملOrganic Carbon and Organic Matter Levels in Sediments of the Strait of Hormoz, the Persian Gulf
Total organic carbon has a major influence on both the chemical and biological processesthat take place in sediments. Algal bloom is one of the organic carbon levels in aquatic ecosystems. In 2009 algal bloom occurred in the Hormozgan province and prolonged for months, which finally setteled down in 2010. In this study the variations of total organic carbon (TOC), organic matter (TOM) and tot...

chapter i provides an overview of structural linguistics and touches upon the saussurean dichotomies with the final goal of exploring their relevance to the stylistic studies of literature. to provide evidence for the singificance of the study, chapter ii deals with the controversial issue of linguistics and literature, and presents opposing views which, at the same time, have been central to t...

Bean plants, trimmed to a simplified "double source, double sink" translocation system (the paired primary leaves serving as the double source and the paired lateral leaflets of the immature first trifoliate leaf as the double sink) were used to study the magnitude and short-term time course of change in the allocation ratio (partition ratio) of assimilates translocated from the labeled primary...
